You know whats DOPE, about Colorado Hip-Hop??? Sheesh!!! Everything!! The Uniqueness, the sound, the innovation, the drive! There are sooo many people out here doing their thing, the movment is moving and it's inspiring! Last Summer, my good homies and Colorado Hip-Hop advocates, Aries Jackson, put together the follow up segment to their second documentary series 'Between the lines', spotlight on the emcee in Colorado.

When asked about his inspiration for putting together the “Home Cooked Hip-Hop” series from writer, Nicole Cormier, he said, “I always enjoyed documentaries and wanted to make my own where I can tell stories,” Jackson continues, “plus it is something different than just doing videos or dropping an album.”

I'm very thankful and grateful for being asking to be apart of this series. I've seen alot of people come and go and grow in our Hip-Hop community!. I'm hyped to see my brother's and sister's in the state, shinin their light with their art and passion! From every element of the culture, DJing,Bboying,MCing,Graffiti, Colorado has the talent and the fire, to hang with anyone coast to coast. I'm just a piece of the puzzle and blessed to still be able to share my story and express through my craft.

With a sit down interview with AXS.com. They explain, The video which is just over 20 minutes addresses various Colorado bred emcees, which Jackson chose with care, “I selected ones who I felt could tell the story I wanted to tell the best. I have worked with all of the artists in one way or another plus it's is a diverse group of talented individuals that covered every aspect of being an MC.” Included in the film are King FOE, Kingdom, Mane Rok, Hypnautic, Koo Qua, Bianca Mikahn, Julox, Ms. Solo, Spoke In Wordz, Dent, 2MX2 and J Money, who definitely each cover a unique segment of the community.

Throughout the film viewers will hear the set of emcees asked a variety of questions with speckled in freestyles to accentuate their skills. From what is a real MC?, Freestyle vs. written, social media versus street promotion, inspiration, writing process and more, each of the emcees gets to address the questions from their own unique perspective, and experiences, which makes it not only interesting, but also educational.

As a very sound, and professional representation of the Colorado hip-hop community, “Between the Lines: Home Cooked Hip-Hop” is one of those documentaries that will be revisited many times. It's also apparent that Jackson enjoyed making the film, “Man honestly the entire process was dope. I got to hang out with some cool rappers and hear them tell a story. Then going through all the footage to tell the story, then the mixing and doing all the post production stuff. I just want to show folks another side of what we [Aires Jackson] can do.”
