A documentary film on the life, music, and philosophy of funk, soul, and jazz composer Roy Ayers, which was first alerted in 2011, and which I haven't heard or read or received any information about since then, is still very much alive apparently, if an April 2014 blog post on the project's site is any indication. Titled simply, "The Roy Ayers Project," the film will feature, of course, Roy Ayers himself, as well as many Hip Hop producers (especially those who have sampled his music), and the many other musicians who have been influenced by the man and his music.

Roy Ayers (born September 10, 1940) is an American funk, soul, and jazz composer and vibraphone player. Ayers began his career as apost-bop jazz artist, releasing several albums with Atlantic Records, before his tenure at Polydor Records beginning in the 1970s, during which he helped pioneer jazz-funk. He is a key figure in the acid jazz movement, which is a mixture of jazz into hip-hop and funk, and has been dubbed by many as "The Godfather of Neo Soul". He is most well known for his signature compositions "Everybody Loves The Sunshine" and "Searchin".and is also famous for having more sampled hits by rappers than any other artist.
