Have yall Ever Came across this Great Moment in Music History? Me and the boy's are always trying to show off the Coolest things on Youtube, and my boy Sonny showed me this one. Doing a little research on the internet, I came across this source on line:

"Just in case anyone is wondering exactly how and why this happened:
James Brown performed this show shortly after the Motown Anniversary show where Michael Jackson first unveiled his moonwalk. After learning that Michael Jackson was attending his show, James Brown calls him on stage to perform it again. Jackson does not, and instead sings a little. James Brown tells the band to kick it up in an attempt to get Michael to show them his stuff. He does, but when he goes back to hug James Brown he tells him something along the lines of "That was fun, but there's a guy named Prince here who you need to call up. He's incredible." James Brown has NO IDEA who Prince is at this point; frankly, Prince isn't that famous. Brown obliges Michael and calls Prince up.
Here's where it's important to understand that Prince is a control freak. At this point, all of his shows are extremely choreographed, and nothing happens that he hasn't expressly allowed. Being called on stage is not something he is prepared for. This is because Prince is actually fairly insecure about his persona and his performances, and so being called out by Michael Jackson shakes him up a little bit. He knows that if he can rip something out on guitar he can steal the show but unfortunately the guitar he grabs is a left handed guitar and he is right handed Alan Leedsspeculates that a combination of nerves, uncomfortable strings, the fact that Ron Laster (James Brown's guitarist) was much taller than Prince (leading to the guitar strap to be far too large for Prince) leaves him struggling to actually playanything. Instead, he turns up the Prince factor, begins stripping, and gyrating with the guitar, which isn't exactly common place at a James Brown show, and it's fairly obvious that James Brown isn't thrilled with his performance. In a final attempt to win over the audience and the assembled performers, he points at James to imply "Hey, I can do you too!" before doing an exceptionally poor James Brown impression, dancing and all. After completely embarrassing himself Prince knocks over the light post as he leaves the stage, injuring a woman in the crowd, and infuriating James Brown. In later years Prince will go on to say that Michael Jackson "set him up" to fail in front of James Brown.
TL;DR Prince gets called out by Michael Jackson who doesn't REALLY want to perform with James Brown. He blows it, pisses off James Brown and embarrasses himself.
EDIT: I emailed professor to double check what I wrote. He emailed Prince/James Brown's tour manager who corrected me on reasons why Prince's guitar performance may have been lackluster. Thanks to /u/FAP-FOR-BRAINS for catching the righty guitar mistake
Source: I just took a class on the career of Prince and we spent a LONG time working with this video.
