Wu-Tang Hybrid Arts (“WU HA”) is a yearlong initiative celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the legendary hip hop group, Wu-Tang Clan. WU HA launched with the inaugural exhibition, “WU HA | 20 20” featuring the work of artists who, through their own unique vision, have created works inspired by Wu-Tang. Work will range in medium from photography, oil painting, sculpture, digital media, food, duct tape, screen printing, mirrored acrylic, zines, clothing, legos, gold leaf, the internet, digital audio and beyond.

Over the course of a year, WU HA will provide a platform on www.wu-ha.com for the work of artists inspired by the music and mythology of Wu-Tang Clan and the iconic “W”, a symbol of the phoenix rising that has transcended race and genre. This yearlong initiative will culminate with a September 2014 exhibition at the Japanese American National Museum curated by Oliver “Power” Grant, Laura O’Reilly, and Jasmine Wahi. For the “WU HA | 20 20” inaugural exhibition, Wallplay’s artist billboards on the building facade featured WUHA artwork by New York-based artist Lina Viktor on Orchard Street and Chicago-based artist SOLO RM on Delancey street. Digital content ran 24 hours a day on Wallplay’s 12, street-level monitors and is set to rotate throughout the course of the exhibition.Wallplay’s second floor and rooftop was activated for WU HA experiential events that bring the exhibition to life with a range of programming from a guided meditation lead by Biet Simken to individual event nights with Dee & Ricky, Amirah Kassem of Flour Shop for C.R.E.A.M (Cake Rules Everything Around Me), WU500mg minimal dose.
